Cara Wilde - Contemporary Artist

I have always followed creative pursuits throughout my life. From taking art at high school through to night classes and workshops. I have studied and taken classes in acrylics, watercolours, oils, pastels, mixed media and drawing over the years. I spent a year learning different techniques at a local art school in 2013. Other creative pursuits I have followed are gaining a diploma in fashion design when I left school and a certificate in stage one interior design in 2012.

In 2013 I joined an art group in my area, this allowed me to start exhibiting at local exhibitions. Since then I have exhibited and sold my works at various shows including The Royal Easter Show, the Baradene, MAGS & MARTakana Art Shows and also at Pop Up stores in local shopping malls.

In September 2021 I completed a 12 week online art business course. This taught me how to build my own website, use social media effectively, photograph my works and more. I have painted a number of different subjects over the years including landscape, birdlife, historic cottages and flowers.

The beauty of being an artist and creative is that we can transition and grow, going through different phases in our art journeys. I paint contemporary and abstract artworks. They reflect on what I am feeling or going through at the time I am painting them. Nature and flowers play a huge part in my works. My aim with my artworks is to make you feel something, any emotion that you can relate to in the piece.

I am thrilled that I now have many of my artworks featured in homes throughout New Zealand. Being an artist is a journey and I am still ever changing and evolving.

I currently work part time from my home studio.
